The long-gestating sequel Beetlejuice 2 was officially announced by Warner Bros., and Danny Elfman is perhaps more excited than anyone for production to get started. The original film, released in 1988, was directed by Tim Burton and written by Michael McDowell and Warren Skaaren. Michael Keaton, Winona Ryder, and Geena Davis led the cast while Danny Elfman provided the music, one of many of the composer's collaborations with Burton.
