Mister Smith Entertainment will be bringing Hot Mess to the Cannes market, and Emma Roberts is attached to the project for the lead role. Per Deadline, the film will be helmed by Katie Locke O'Brien, marking her feature directorial debut. The screenplay comes from Gabrielle D'Amico. It will be produced by Debbie Liebling, Maggie Malina, and Laura Lewis. No additional cast members have yet been announced.
