After a lengthy production process that underwent many changes before director Greta Gerwig was able to get the ball rolling, Barbie is finally heading to movie theaters this month. It's been a long time coming for the live-action feature film based on the popular Mattel doll. It's one of those movies that has spent years in development hell, and at one point during the planning stages for the project, Diablo Cody was attached to write the screenplay. The Oscar-winning Juno writer wound up departing Barbie back in 2018, suggesting in a ScreenCrush interview that year that her exit was due to creative reasons.
