As Salman Khan’s Tiger 3 gears up for release, Yash Raj Films adds the YRF Spy Universe logo to the trailers of Ek Tha Tiger, Tiger Zinda Hai and War

This was an exciting week for cinegoers as they were treated to the release of promos for several upcoming films. One teaser that stood out was that of Tiger 3. Starring Salman Khan, it is one of the most awaited films not just due to the superstar’s presence and the popularity of the earlier parts, Ek Tha Tiger (2012) and Tiger Zinda Hai (2017). But this is also because it is the next instalment in the YRF Spy Universe. Hrithik Roshan-starrer War (2019) and Shah Rukh Khan-starrer Pathaan (2023) are also a part of it. In fact, Salman even played the part of Tiger in Pathaan. The scenes of Salman and SRK together played a huge part in enhancing the film’s collections. And now, Shah Rukh’s Pathaan character will play a key role in Tiger 3, due to which the action entertainer is expected to be yet another blockbuster of 2023.

And now, Bollywood Hungama has learned of an interesting development. Yash Raj Films (YRF) has incorporated the YRF Spy Universe logo in the trailer of the previous films of the franchise. The logo was unveiled to the world on January 7 this year and made its first appearance in the trailer of Pathaan, which was released on January 10. This means that the earlier movies of the universe and their trailers didn’t carry the exciting logo. But now, YRF has smartly updated the trailers of Ek Tha Tiger, Tiger Zinda Hai and War with the Spy Universe logo on YouTube.

An industry insider commented, “It’s a wise thing to do. People like revisiting the trailers of these old films, as proved by their ever-increasing views and also comments. When they see the logo in these trailers, the idea will be hammered in them that the characters of Salman Khan, Shah Rukh Khan and Hrithik Roshan and also that of Katrina Kaif and Deepika Padukone belong to the same world. Moreover, those who just been introduced to these films will be acquainted that there exists a cinematic universe. It just enhances the value of the previous movies.”

An exhibitor agreed, “The YRF Spy Universe logo is a super-hit idea. The moment it was shown in the beginning of Pathaan, there were whistles as viewers knew that they were about to see a film which belongs to a series comprising some of the biggest superstars of the country. Also, it is the only universe of Indian cinema with its own logo and it should be flaunted.”

Coming back to Tiger 3, the Maneesh Sharma-directorial also stars Katrina Kaif and Emraan Hashmi. It will be out on Diwali 2023.

Netflix India secured two International Emmy nominations at the highly coveted 2023 International Emmys. Delhi Crime Season 1 put India on the map with its historic first-ever win for the country in 2020 for Best Drama Series at the International Emmys. The crime drama has secured a second International Emmy nod this time around in the Best Actress category for the inimitable, Shefali Shah. Vir Das was previously recognized for his 2021 International Emmy nomination for his Netflix special, Vir Das: For India, and made a return with Vir Das: Landing in the Comedy category this year.

Talking about the International Emmy nomination, actress Shefali Shah said, "I can't find the words to describe what I'm feeling. Delhi Crime is such a special project to me. Debt-ridden Future Group’s Food Hall vacates Salman Khan’s property in Santacruz, Mumbai; taken over by Food Square at a rental of Rs. 1 crore a month

The gourmet supermarket Food Hall was famous not just for its exotic and expansive variety of food but also because it was frequented by several celebrities. Bollywood actors and actresses like Deepika Padukone, Saif Ali Khan, Sara Ali Khan, Disha Patani, Ananya Panday, Sunny Leone etc, have been clicked while entering or exiting Food Hall by the paparazzi and hence, its popularity reached far and wide. However, the 4-floor space, owned by superstar Salman Khan, was vacated by Food Hall some months ago. It has now been replaced by a new chain, Food Square.

Salman Khan bought the property at Linking Road, Santacruz West, Mumbai in 2012 for around Rs. 120 crores with the intention to use it for commercial purposes. It was leased out to Food Hall in July 2017. As per reports, it was Salman Khan’s father who did the paperwork. The reports at that time stated that the deal was signed for Rs. 80 lakhs per month as rent for a period of five years, after which it was going to increase to Rs. 89.60 lakhs per month. Future Group, currently debt-ridden, had also given a deposit of Rs. 2.40 crore to Salman Khan.

Once the five-year period was over, Salman Khan reportedly renewed the agreement with Food Hall for two years, in 2022. As per the conditions in the agreement, the retail giant was to pay him Rs. 89.60 lakhs per month for the first year and Rs. 94.08 lakhs per month in the second year.

Then, news came in March 2023 that Salman Khan wanted to terminate the agreement and seek back the property, supposedly due to non-payment of dues. The National Company Law Appellate Tribunal (NCLAT) in April ruled in the star’s favour.

As per a report in The Economic Times, LandCraft Retail, which owns Food Square, will pay a rent of Rs. 1 crore per month to use the prime space. The story also states that just like Food Hall, Food Square has also tied up with Versace for its collection of cutleries, live stations by Entisi Chocolate, and Italian food at Oliveology.

On the work front, Salman Khan is gearing up for the release of Tiger 3, co-starring Katrina Kaif and Emraan Hashmi. It’ll release in cinemas on Diwali this year.

SCOOP: Prashanth Neel decides to reshoot Salaar climax; Prabhas film delayed further

Just 30 days before the film's release, Prashanth Neel and Hombale Films announced that their action-packed thriller, Salaar, starring Prabhas, will not release on September 28 due to VFX issues. The announcement sent shock waves in the industry as the release was delayed after the commencement of advance bookings in some territories. And just days after the news of postponement broke out in the media, Bollywood Hungama has got its hands on some scoop.

According to sources close to the development, Prashanth Neel and co. have silently reunited to reshoot some portions of Salaar, which includes high points of the film's climax. "The idea is to better the product for the biggest cinematic experience. Prashanth Neel wants to outdo his previous work and when he watched the film in one go recently, he felt there was still a lot of scope of improvement. Prashanth is a taskmaster. He got support from his producers, who took the risk of delaying the film and increasing the budget to creatively satisfy the director," revealed a very close source.

The reshoot aspect has been taken positively by all the stakeholders. "Given the money at which film is bought across the market, it's always good to come up with a polished and complete product. When there is scope for improvement, it's always nice to improve. The idea of this short reshoot is to enhance the cinematic experience for the viewers," the source further told us.

That's not all, as according to the source, VFX is also a reason for the delay in Salaar. "Approx. 600 vfx shots are yet to be received by the team of Salaar, and to date, that's pending. Basically, the delay has come for multiple reasons, which include delay in VFX output and some reshoots in the climax," the source shared with us.

A new release date of Salaar will be announced once the VFX shots are received and Prashanth Neel stitches the reshot portions in the final edit.

Aamir Khan donates Rs. 25 lakhs to families affected by Himachal Pradesh flood disaster

Bollywood actor Aamir Khan has extended help to the families affected by the floods, landslides and more in the Himachal Pradesh disaster. The actor has donated Rs. 25 lakhs to the Aapda Rahat Kosh-2023 for those who are currently facing difficulties amid the crisis.

As per a report in ANI, Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu thanked Aamir Khan for his gesture. He said that this will “undoubtedly assist in relief and rehabilitation efforts aimed at helping the affected families to recover from the aftermath of the disaster.” He added that this gesture by Aamir Khan will make “a remarkable difference in the lives of those who have been adversely affected by monsoon fury in the State.” Himachal Pradesh has faced persistent rainfall due to which places have faced floods, landslides and cloudbursts.

Meanwhile, Aamir Khan is co-producing Laapataa Ladies with Jio Studios which was premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) on September 8. Helmed by Kiran Rao, the film has been made under the banner of Aamir Khan Productions and Kindling Productions, with the script based on an award-winning story by Biplab Goswami. The screenplay and dialogues are written by Sneha Desai, while the additional dialogues have been jotted down by Divyanidhi Sharma. Following the release of Jaane Jaan and making her streaming debut, Kareena Kapoor Khan is all set to begin the shoot for Singham Again. Reuniting with Ajay Devgn and Rohit Shetty, this marks her third collaboration with them. It is being reported that the actress will be starting the shoot on Saturday, September 23.

Vicky further shared, “We discuss but not very seriously, we causally discuss scripts, or else we will discuss how the shoot was, we talk about work only in that way. We don't make our house like an office by discussing too much work.”

Imran Khan reveals he was “never supposed to be Matru” in Matru Ki Bijlee Ka Mandola; says, “The film was launched with Ajay Devgn attached as Matru”

Actor Imran Khan, who recently stirred a social media storm with his hints about a Bollywood comeback, shared a throwback picture from the movie Matru Ki Bijlee Ka Mandola. Khan captivated fans with a heartfelt caption that shed light on his memories and experiences during the making of the film.

Sharing his picture from the film, Imran captioned, “I was never supposed to be Matru. The film was launched with Ajay Devgn attached as Matru, but he chose to withdraw before filming could commence. I was riding high off the back-to-back successes of Delhi Belly and MBKD, and close to wrapping the shoot of EMAET when I got the call; Vishal Bhardwaj wanted to meet me! I was thrilled. He told me about his passion project, a story he had been carrying close to his heart.”

Talking about the film, Imran wrote, “It was a film about greed, the economic exploitation of farmers, and the menace of unregulated development. It struck a chord with me, but I was hesitant; I would have to learn Haryanvi, and be ready to roll in less than three months! How on earth was I to pull this off?”

He further added, “To accomplish this, I moved to Delhi and started intensive workshops with the legendary NK Sharma and some of his students. Panditji, as we affectionately called him, was the first person to point out the negative Voice in my head. "You only listen to the voice that tells you you are worthless", he told me, "why do you disrespect the thousands of voices that say they love you?". I listened to his words, but I didn't really hear them. I was anxious and terrified through the shoot of the film. I couldn't shake the feeling that Vishal had never really wanted me for this part, that my casting was based more on the budget that my presence could afford than the director's belief in me. And so it came to be that once we wrapped the shoot, I turned tail and ran, never looking back. I didn't even watch the final cut of the film when it was done. Having a surreal, absurdist tone, the film was pretty well skewered upon release... but what can I say, I'm proud as hell of this movie. It was a bold experiment, a story that absolutely needed to see the light of day, and I consider it my privilege to have been a part of the team that made it happen.”

Imran concluded by saying, “PS. I couldn't ride a motorcycle when I signed on, so I had to take lessons. I learned to ride Matru's Bullet in between shots while filming the 'Auntyji' song from EMAET!”

Bombay HC allows Rhea Chakraborty's brother Showik to travel abroad!

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) informed the Bombay High Court on Thursday that it required one day to seek instructions regarding a plea filed by actor Rhea Chakraborty's brother, Showik. Showik, who, like his sister, is an accused in the Narcotic Control Bureau's (NCB) case related to actor Sushant Singh Rajput's drug use, needed to travel to Australia for work purposes. Both siblings had been arrested in 2021 but were subsequently granted bail. As a condition of their bail, the court had directed them to surrender their passports to the NCB and obtain court permission for international travel.

On September 6, a special court under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substance (NDPS) Act granted Showik permission to travel abroad. During this process, the court noted that the NCB had retained his passport without adhering to legal provisions. According to the Passport Authorities Act, only the passport authority can impound a passport.

Showik's petition in the High Court, filed by advocate Ayaz Khan, highlighted that in the previous year, Rhea had been granted court permission to travel for the IIFA awards. However, she couldn't do so because of a standing Look Out Circular (LOC) issued against them by the CBI.

In July 2020, an FIR was filed in Patna by Sushant Singh Rajput's father, alleging that Rhea Chakraborty took money from Sushant and incited him to commit suicide. The case was subsequently transferred to the CBI by the Supreme Court. While investigating the case, the CBI issued lookout notices against both Rhea Chakraborty and her brother. Due to these notices, they cannot travel abroad even with court permission.

During court proceedings, Ayaz Khan emphasized the urgency of Showik's travel to Australia between September 17 and 24, thus requesting the suspension of the LOC for this period.

The bench comprising Justice Ajay Gadkari and Sharmila Deshmukh will resume hearing Showik's petition on Friday, with Advocate Kuldeep Patil representing the CBI to present their arguments before the court.

For the unversed, actor Sushant Singh Rajput was found dead at his Mumbai residence on June 14, 2021. His family contested that it was not a suicide, leading to the registration of an FIR. Despite extensive interrogations of Rhea Chakraborty and Showik Chakraborty, the CBI has not yet concluded its investigation or filed any chargesheet in the case. The court is set to hear the CBI's arguments regarding Showik Chakraborty's lookout circular in the upcoming proceedings.

He acknowledged the natural shyness actors can feel while performing certain scenes and emphasized the importance of making the director happy, as the director's perspective shapes how audiences perceive the actors. He said, “Whatever I’ve done in the film is because of the love of the team. I get shy, actors get shy to do things, and we feel awkward. I just wanted to make him happy and please him. It is the duty of every actor, whatever film you do, you have to make your director happy because, through his eyes, everybody is going to perceive you and see you. I’m happy I could make him (Atlee) happy.”

Jawan, directed by the acclaimed Atlee Kumar and produced by Gauri Khan under the banner of Red Chillies Entertainment, boasts an ensemble cast featuring Shah Rukh Khan, Nayanthara, Vijay Sethupathi, Sanya Malhotra, Priyamani, Sunil Grover, Eijaz Khan, and a special appearance by Deepika Padukone.

The Railway Men and Aamir Khan’s son Junaid Khan’s debut film Maharaj set to be first two projects in Netflix and YRF’s multi-year creative partnership

Yash Raj Films (YRF) and Netflix are coming together to form a new multi-year creative partnership. The two entertainers will collaborate to create films and series to bring defining stories to audiences in India and across the world. The first project to come out of this partnership is the character-driver thriller, The Railway Men, a four-part series starring R. Madhavan, Kay Kay Menon, Divyendu Sharma and Babil Khan, which is directed by debutant director Shiv Rawail. The second, Maharaj, is a film marking the debut of actor Junaid Khan and also stars Jaideep Ahlawat, Sharvari & Shalini Pandey. The film has been directed by Siddharth P. Malhotra, whose last film Hichki was a global hit.

This is the untold story of the unsung heroes, who rose to the occasion that night to save the city and its people. This is the story of their courage, their sense of duty and their humanity.

Also inspired by true events, Maharaj, is an incredible David vs. Goliath story set in the 1800s, about how a regular man, journalist by profession, takes on a powerful role-model of society, hailed by many as a messiah for the masses. The fearless reporter uncovers a series of incidents that shake the very foundation of society. Madhu Mantena and Namit Malhotra have a BIG FALL OUT over Ramayana; shoot unlikely to begin this year

Over the last 2 years, the Nitesh Tiwari directed Ramayana has been the talk of the town due to its casting. The film at first was supposed to be made with Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Ram, Sai Pallavi as Sita and Hrithik Roshan as Ravan. However, right after the failure of Vikram Vedha, Hrithik Roshan backed out of the film as he didn't wish to play another negative character. The makers then went on hunting for an actor to play Ravan. They knocked all doors, and finally it was Yash who expressed interest in the film.

It has been on and off for Yash ever since then, and the actor is still in a confused state regarding his decision to play Ravan in the film, keeping the team of Ramayana hanging about his decision. While Yash continues to have confusion about Ramayana, Sai Pallavi had backed out of the film making way for Alia Bhatt, who again backed out of the film, resulting in re-entry of Sai Pallavi at the request of Nitesh Tiwari.

And now Bollywood Hungama has exclusively learnt from our discrete sources that all is not well at producers level for Ramayana. "Ramayana was being produced by Madhu Mantena with Namit Malhotra and Allu Aravind. Over the last 2 years, there have been several conflicts between the team. While Madhu has not been able to get a cast locked for the film as yet, Namit now wants to have complete control over the project as he is deeply involved on the VFX front. He feels, if Madhu cannot not get the celebs on board, he should forsake his a share of revenue on Ramayana," revealed a source close to the development to Bollywood Hungama.

Madhu on the other hand believes that he has got the entire Ramayana project together - right from the script to the story board - and it's not his fault that actors are not willing to take up Ramayana due to the debacle of Adipurush. "Actors backing out of Ramayana is circumstantial due to the failure of Adipurush. That doesn't take away the efforts put in by Madhu to bring in actors on board and bring Ramayana to the big screen. Both the producers are strong headed in their thought process and at the moment are not willing to budge," the source told us further.

The tussle between Madhu and Namit has put the prep work of Ramayana on the back burner, delaying the shoot dates. The film was slated to start in 2021, however, there has been a two year delay already due to casting conflict. Now, the producer conflict has already delayed the shoot timelines by at-least three more months. "If the conflict is resolved, the makers would hope for a yes from Yash and then take the film on floors. It's all wait and watch for now as the team is busy fighting among each-other," the source concluded.

Ramayana will be directed by Nitesh Tiwari with Ravi Udyawar and has Ranbir Kapoor to play the part of Lord Ram.
