In a game of theatrically based musical chairs, Renaissance: A Film by Beyoncé is clearly out. After the concert movie won its opening weekend in theaters rather handily with $21.8 million domestically (per The Numbers), singing sensation Beyoncé Knowles-Carter’s bubble burst. Beyoncé and her big-screen ambitions took a serious hit over the last three days as The Boy and the Heron ascends to the top spot at the box office in a close three-way race.
