In the latest episode of Koffee With Karan 8, sisters Janhvi Kapoor and Khushi Kapoor made their appearance together. While this was Janhvi's third time on the show, The Archies debutante made her first appearance. As they spoke about their lives and careers, they also recalled the time when they heard about their mother Sridevi's death.
Recalling the moment when she learnt about her mother's death, Janhvi said, “When I got the call, I was in my room and I could hear wailing from Khushi's room. I think I barged into her room, howling and crying but what I do remember is she looked at me and the minute she looked at me, she just stopped crying. She just sat next to me and started comforting me and I've never seen her cry about it since.”
Khushi Kapoor shared, “I felt like I had to hold it together for everyone because I feel like I've always been the strong one.”
In the same episode, Janhvi also spoke about how Khushi is more similar to Sridevi, “She is a very quiet person and I think that is one thing she has in common with Mumma. But in front of the camera, she just explodes,” she said.
Sridevi died in 2018 in Dubai, where she was attending Boney Kapoor's nephew Mohit Marwah’s wedding. It was announced that the cause of her death was accidental drowning. Is it fair to call Adam Driver the Henry Fonda of this generation? Driver’s versatility is certainly reminiscent of how Fonda could portray any role, whether it be Davis, aka the eighth juror, in 12 Angry Men or how he played against typecasting as the villainous cowboy, Frank, in Once Upon a Time in the West (1968). Driver certainly has that elite level of acting acumen, but Driver has, quite by happenstance, taken on the roles of two well-known Italians in Maurizio Gucci and most recently, as Enzo Ferrari. And Driver responded to how some critics have questioned him about the repetition during his sit-down with hosts Jason Bateman, Will Arnett and Sean Hayes on the Smartless podcast:
This will excite horror fans: filmmaker Jordan Peele says his anticipated upcoming fourth film has the potential to be his favorite. Given Peele's previous efforts — the critically lauded Get Out, Us, and Nope — it's a promising statement. Peele's fourth directorial feature was slated for a Christmas Day 2024 release, but the Actors' and Writers' strikes postponed the project. While no release date is currently confirmed, Peele teases that the project is "clear" to him.
The Marvel Cinematic Universe has a year to get its house in order following the departure of Jonathan Majors from the franchise, with most of its theatrical slate being shifted to 2025. In the role of Kang the Conqueror, Majors was set to be the cornerstone of the Multiverse Saga until he was recently convicted of assault and harassment and immediately fired by Marvel Studios. Recently, many names have been thrown in the ring as to who could possibly take over the role in future MCU movies, and one name that seems to be top of the pile is Colman Domingo.
For many fans, Alan Ritchson is Jack Reacher. When you are taking on a character that has been previously portrayed by a Hollywood legend like Tom Cruise, that kind of recognition is something to be celebrated. However, Ritchson is just as happy to have his performance compared to that of his predecessor, and says he will, in fact, “never tire” of it.
The Minecraft movie continues to build its cast, with The Super Mario Bros. Movie's Boswer aka Jack Black jumping from one massive game franchise to another. According to Deadline, Black will be playing the role of Steve in the movie, although there are very few other details available at this time. Black is the latest star to board the Jason Momoa-led adaptation of the Mojang sandbox game, which has sold almost 300 million copies worldwide and is the best-selling video game of all-time.
Marvel Studios’ animated series, What If…?, may have become the best way for the MCU to play with its own narrative. Of course, fans have always been willing to play that game with their own recasts of popular comic book groups, asking what would have happened if they had appeared on-screen years earlier. The latest of these focuses on the idea of the X-Men being brought to screens in the 1980s, with a host of big name stars depicted as some of the biggest X-Men characters, such as Wolverine, Professor X and Magneto.
