The Academy Awards saw Brendan Fraser winning the Best Actor award for his performance in The Whale, and while this was an amazing moment that was well deserved for the winner, it meant Austin Butler had to lose. Of course, Butler had been nominated for playing the King of Rock 'n' Roll in Baz Luhrmann's biopic Elvis. Nothing was guaranteed heading into the event, and up until Fraser's name was announced, there was no telling for sure just who would get that win.
