Star Wars fanatics nearly drove actor Ahmed Best to commit suicide due to their harsh reactions to the first appearance of Jar Jar Binks. Best made his Star Wars debut as the voice of the character in Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace as a part of Geroge Lucas’ prequel trilogy. The character was designed to be the picture’s comedy relief much like C-3PO (Anthony Daniels) served in the original films (1977-1983). However, a growing disdain for the new character led to a community of Jar Jar haters who nearly caused Best to do the unthinkable.
