James Mangold is currently promoting his latest movie, Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny, but he can't escape the questions surrounding Deadpool 3. The Merc with a Mouth will officially arrive in the MCU next year with his third movie, after two successful entries at 20th Century Studios, which marked a before and after for R Rated comic book movies.
At a time when many planned productions are getting postponed due to the ongoing writers strike, the fourth Captain America movie has just wrapped filming. The news was announced by Kramer Morgenthau, who serves as cinematographer on Captain America: Brave New World. Taking to Instagram, Morgenthau shared an image of the slate used for the project bearing the movie's logo along with his name and that of director Julius Onah. The cinematographer also noted how the project had wrapped filming by simply writing the word, "Wrap."
The planned Cleopatra movie starring Gal Gadot is slowly but surely moving forward, and the Heart of Stone star has shared a new update on the project. Back in 2020, it was announced that Gadot would play Cleopatra in a new feature film based on the historic ruler. The movie was said to reunite Gadot with Wonder Woman helmer Patty Jenkins, though it was later reported that Jenkins had left the project with Kari Skogland (The Falcon and the Winter Soldier) taking over as director. Early last year, Gadot teased that the film would "celebrate" Cleopatra's story, but no major updates have come about since.
The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has issued a statement clarifying that the trailer of the film 72 Hoorain has not been denied certification. The statement comes after co-producer Ashoke Pandit alleged that the censor board had refused to certify the trailer of the movie, which is scheduled for release on July 7.
As per a report by PTI, the CBFC said that the makers of the film had applied for certification of the trailer on June 19, and it was examined in accordance with the guidelines issued under Section 5B(2) of the Cinematograph Act, 1952. The board said that after reviewing the trailer, they had requested certain modifications from the applicant, which were communicated through a show-cause notice issued on June 27.
The CBFC said that the matter is currently pending the applicant's response and compliance with the modifications suggested. Therefore, they emphasized that any misleading reports should not be entertained or circulated while the matter is still under due process.
The CBFC also said that the film 72 Hoorain had already been granted an "A" certificate in October 2019. For the unversed, while expressing his disappointment, Ashoke, in a video message, had criticised the CBFC for hindering their creative independence and freedom of expression. He highlighted the irony of the film receiving accolades such as a National Award and recognition at the International Film Festival of India (IFFI), while the trailer was denied certification.
The film, which is directed by Sanjay Puran Singh Chauhan, features Pavan Malhotra and Aamir Bashir in the lead roles. It delves into the consequences of violent extremism and garnered critical acclaim, earning Chauhan the National Film Award for Best Direction in 2021.

Producer Ekta Kapoor created a revolution in the television industry in the year 2000. She slowly and steadily also carved a space for herself in the world of movies. With the advent of digital, she established her own OTT platform and thus made giant strides. And now, she’s all set to enter new waters.
Bollywood Hungama has learnt that Ekta Kapoor has come on board for the Telugu-Tamil film, Vrushabha. A source told Bollywood Hungama, “This would be Ekta’s first Pan India film. She is meeting the film’s leading actor, Megastar Mohanlal, today at Yash Raj Films (YRF) Studios, Mumbai where she would sign the papers and then become one of the producers of this highly-awaited film.”
Vrushabha is expected to be mounted on a grand scale and rumoured to be a Rs. 200 crores project. Apart from Ekta Kapoor’s Balaji Telefilms, Vrushabha is produced by AVS Studios and Connect Media.
The announcement of Vrushabha was done last year in August. The multilingual drama will be directed by Nanda Kishore and will hit theaters in 2024. It is will release in Malayalam, Telugu, Tamil, Kannada and Hindi.
The source further said, “Ekta Kapoor’s presence will give the film a much-needed push in the Hindi speaking markets. She will be to Vrushabha what Karan Johar was to Baahubali. Needless to say, Ekta is kicked about coming on board for Vrushabha. The team of Vrushabha are also glad to welcome her in the team.”
On the work front, Ekta Kapoor just had a release, Badtameez Dil, on Amazon Mini TV. Her daily soap, Barsaatein, will be out on July 10. This year, she’ll have two major film releases – Ayushmann Khurrana-Ananya Panday-starrer Dream Girl 2 and The Crew, starring Tabu, Kareena Kapoor, Diljit Dosanjh and Kriti Sanon. Mohanlal, meanwhile, has several forthcoming releases besides Vrushabha like Drishyam 3, Jailer with Rajinikanth, etc.

Bastar is being developed and produced by Sunshine Pictures Pvt Ltd in association with Last Monk Media. The film is slated to release on 5th April 2024.

Actor Abhishek Bachchan is all set to complete 23 years on June 30. On this day, in the year 2000, his debut film Refugee was released in cinemas. In recent times, his web show Breathe: Into The Shadows was highly praised, especially his challenging act. Interestingly, he hasn’t had a theatrical release in almost 5 years. His love triangle Manmarziyaan arrived on the big screen in September 2018. He was then seen in films like Ludo (2020), The Big Bull (2021), Bob Biswas (2021) and Dasvi (2022), all of which were released directly on OTT.
But in 2023 and 2024, Abhishek Bachchan is expected to be seen in several films. In a recent interaction with ETimes, he revealed that he has bagged Shoojit Sircar’s next film. He also stated that it’ll go on floors in August this year.
Interestingly, Shoojit has worked with his father, Amitabh Bachchan, several times. Both collaborated for a Gujarat Tourism campaign. Then Shoojit directed Big B in Shoebite, which unfortunately never saw the light of day. Then the veteran actor was seen in Shoojit’s Piku (2015), co-starring Deepika Padukone and Irrfan Khan. The film was a huge box office and critical success and also fetched 3 National Awards, including one for Amitabh. It remains to be seen if Shoojit’s film with Abhishek Bachchan also turns out to be yet another critical and commercial winner.
Speaking of other releases of Abhishek Bachchan, he has completed SSS7 (2019). It is a remake of the Tamil film Oththa Seruppu Size 7. SSS7 promises to make for a unique watch, as Abhishek is the only actor that features in the film. This will be followed by R Balki’s Ghoomer, co-starring Saiyami Kher and Shabana Azmi.
Another Tamil remake that Abhishek is a part of is KD (2019). The Hindi remake’s title is expected to be changed. Just like the original, the remake is also helmed by Madhumita while it is produced by Nikkhil Advani’s Emmay Entertainment. Lastly, Abhishek recently wrapped up a film, which is directed by Remo Dsouza. There were speculations that it is called Dancing Dad and is the same film that Salman was supposed to do at one point. However, recent reports suggest that Abhishek’s film has a different script altogether.

Ikonz Studios, a generative AI company has roped in Amitabh Bachchan as its strategic partner. The company manages digital IPs across metaverse and blockchain. The plan is to raise $10 million in the series A round of the funding.
Abinav Varma Kalidindi, founder and CEO at Ikonz, told Variety, “It’s a momentous day for Ikonz as the true symbolism our name has been derived with the icon Amitabh Bachchan joining forces with us. Together we will leverage the power of generative AI to create immersive experiences that transcend physical boundaries. With our state-of-the-art technology, fans will now have the opportunity to interact with their favorite actor like never before. Who knows you might even be able to take selfies with Amit-ji [Bachchan] in your city.”
Amitabh Bachchan added, “I am intrigued with the way technology is evolving and the pace at which new innovations are coming up worldwide, one such being generative AI. I am happy to be a part of such an amazing futuristic world of generative AI , and have therefore partnered with Abinav-promoted Ikonz . Together we shall embark on this new metaverse world.”
As per the report, the company Ikonz is backed by investors including Village Global, which is a venture firm bankrolled by Mark Zuckerberg, Jeff Bezos, Bill Gates and Reid Hoffman. It has also received investments from Woodstock and Polygon and actor Rana Daggubati and Prasad Vanga’s Anthill Ventures.

However the movie also takes us back in time to see Indy around the time of World War II with an extended opening sequence that de-ages Harrison Ford to his Raiders of the Lost Ark days, and according to the director, that opening helped avoid his biggest problem with the previous movie, Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.

Salman Khan is back with Bigg Boss and this time he is hosting the OTT version. The first season was hosted by Karan Johar. The launch event took place on Friday, June 16.
Salman recently spoke about his expectations from the second season of Bigg Boss OTT and said, “I always look forward to Bigg Boss. First time on Bigg Boss OTT. I hope it is not too uncensored and unfiltered, and if it is, then I will control it myself. The show should run keeping in mind our culture and that’s why I am a part of Bigg Boss OTT. Actually, Karan (Johar) and Farah (Khan) were not available, that’s why I had to do Bigg Boss OTT.”
He added, “Main OTT par bhi aise kuch hone nahi dunga joh humare khilaf aur humare culture ke khilaf ho. Main nahi hone dunga (I will not allow anything against our culture on the show).”
When asked if there's any difference between TV and OTT platforms, he said, “I don’t find any difference. The type of OTT content you are talking about, I anyways don’t do that kind of stuff and I don’t like it. I think now there are guidelines for OTT, after which OTT has improved.”
He further said, “I have a friend who did not tell me he is participating in the show. I was shocked looking at him on the stage. His name is Niketan Madhok.”

As reported by Entertainment Weekly, Oscar-winning director Guillermo del Toro recently revealed his thoughts on contemporary animation and declared his "hate" for sassy animated families. The Hollywood Reporter stated that during a master class at the Annecy International Animation Festival held this week, the director argued that the characters and emotions in some modern animation have been "codified into a sort of teenage rom-com, almost emoji-style behavior."

The project titled Koi Shaq is in fact, an original script that has been developed.” Ask for more details and the source adds, “Right now things are still in the nascent stage. Yes, the cast has been locked and the script as well, but Andrrews is keeping things under wraps. More details will be revealed once shooting commences.”
Currently, Shahid Kapoor’s recent release Bloody Daddy released on OTT, and has been receiving a rather positive response. As for Andrrews venture, the film which has tentatively been titled Koi Shaq will also star Pooja Hegde and will be bankrolled by Siddharth Roy Kapur’s Roy Kapur Films.

Gadar – Ek Prem Katha (2001) is not just one of the biggest hits of Indian cinema but a film that continues to be loved and consumed regularly, even after 22 years of its release. When it arrived in cinemas on June 15, 2021, it created a frenzy in cinemas. Hence, it was shocking when Sunny Deol dropped the bomb that before the release, there were apprehensions in the industry about its box office prospects. Distributors shied away from buying it while some suggested that it seems like a ‘Punjabi film’! Sunny Deol opened about up about this aspect at the re-release premiere of Gadar – Ek Prem Katha, held in Mumbai on Friday, June 9.
Sunny Deol said, "Jab Gadar – Ek Prem Katha lagi, tab humein nahin pata tha ki yeh film gadar machayegi (smiles). People used to say, 'Yeh Punjabi film hai. Isse Hindi mein dub karo'. Some distributors said, 'Main toh nahin kharidunga yeh film'. So we did face a lot of issues. Lekin janta ko film itni pasand aayi ki unhone sab ka munh bandh karwa diya! Unhone hi humein himmat di hai ki hum part 2 banayein."
Gadar – Ek Prem Katha was re-released on June 9 across the country as the sequel, Gadar 2, is all set to hit cinemas on August 11 this year. Just like the first part, Gadar 2 also stars Sunny Deol, Ameesha Patel and Utkarsh Sharma.
A discussion on Gadar – Ek Prem Katha with Sunny Deol is incomplete without the mention of the iconic hand pump scene. When Sunny was asked if he’ll once again lift the hand pump to beat the baddies, Sunny Deol joked, "Iss baar in logon ne saare hand pumps chhupa diye. Pehle se hi nikaal diye!"
Director Anil Sharma was also present and he remarked, "Main film yehi soch ke banata hoon ki yeh Bharat ki hi nahin, vishwa ki sabse badi blockbuster hogi. At times, I succeed and at times, I don't. Gadar – Ek Prem Katha ke time pe main sahi ho gaya. Sunny ji is humble. He knows from the inside (that the film will work). Yet, he would ask me, 'Sharma ji, chalegi?'. I would say, 'Chalegi nahin sir, daudegi. Bahut daudegi'.”

A new Leprechaun movie is in development at Lionsgate. Per THR, it's been revealed that the horror movie series is set to be rebooted at by the studio with an all-new feature film. Franchise star Warwick Davis is not expected to return, as the film is a reimagining that's not directly connected to the previous movies. It will be directed by Felipe Vargas (Milk Teeth) with the screenplay coming from Mike Van Waes (Lilo & Stitch). Award-winning actor Peter Dinklage is of course most well-known for being the funniest Lannister in all of Westeros during his near decade-long tenure on HBO's Game of Thrones, but many of his fans probably didn't expect him to next bring his innate comedic talents to an epic brotherly team-up with none other than Josh Brolin. In 2019 it was announced that the two would be co-starring in a new comedy film called Brothers, with the two of them playing siblings. While there's no trailer or release date for the film just yet, Dinklage took part in an exclusive interview with Collider to talk about the experience, as well as exactly how he and Brolin came together for such a silly concept.
