Mortal Kombat 2 is a go at New Line Cinema. Deadline reports that the rumored sequel is officially happening with the studio bringing on Jeremy Slater to write the screenplay. Slater served as the head writer of the upcoming Disney+ series Moon Knight, though he's also known for developing The Umbrella Academy for Netflix. He also created The Exorcist TV series and served as a writer on the films The Lazarus Effect, Fantastic Four, and the upcoming Thread, his directorial debut.
