The Lucasfilm kickoff panel at Star Wars Celebration contained plenty of announcements about the franchise's future on Disney+, but there were no updates on any of the films that are currently in the works. Studio president Kathleen Kennedy recently described a "road map" for getting Star Wars back in theaters, which includes a project from Thor: Love and Thunder director Taika Waititi. While Waititi's film was first announced back in December 2020, not much is known about what the story will entail, who will be leading the cast, or when production will get underway. However, Kennedy has revealed when the mysterious film is expected to hit theaters, and it's surprisingly not too far away.
