Live-action videogame adaptations are definitely having their renaissance right now, with everything from The Super Mario Bros. Movie that's grossed well over a billion dollars this year to HBO's ongoing The Last of Us series that's already gotten several Emmy nominations. Several more features are still in the pipeline, among them the upcoming Borderlands film, which will pay homage to the original, award-winning action comedy videogame series. After years of development and production that has cleverly remained under wraps for the most part, per a report from Collider, Borderlands now finally has an official release date set for August 9, 2024.
