Supergirl Star Helen Slater Recalls Her Time Working on Smallville Alongside Tom Welling

You’ll believe a woman can fly. An unknown, 18-year-old actress named Helen Slater won the coveted lead role in 1984’s Supergirl, and the live-action legacy of Kara Zor-El began. Years later, 23 years to be exact, during season seven of the television series Smallville, Slater returned to the Man of Steel's mythology as Lara-El, aka Lara Lor-Van, the biological mother of Superman. Slater reminisced about her time on the Smallville set during an interview on the Inside of You with Michael Rosenbaum podcast. Slater said:
