Based on the 1957 novel 'The Executioners' by John D. MacDonald, Cape Fear has seen two film iterations over the years. One in 1962 which starred Gregory Peck, Robert Mitchum, and Polly Bergen, and another in 1991 which featured Robert De Niro, Nick Nolte, and Jessica Lange. Now it looks as if the novel will be making its way to the small screen thanks to executive producers Steven Spielberg and Martin Scorsese, who are currently shopping the idea for a Cape Fear series around Hollywood.
